Sun Certified Associate for the Java Platform, (SCJA), Standard Edition

The Sun Certified Associate for the Java Platform, Standard Edition, Exam Version 1.0 certification exam provides an ideal entry into an application development or a software project management career using Java technologies. This worldwide credential validates basic knowledge of Object-Oriented Concepts, UML representation of OO concepts, the Java programming language, and general knowledge of Java Platforms and Technologies. Candidates for this exam include: entry level Java programmers, students studying to become Java programmers, project or program managers working with Java technology in the software development industry.

Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform (SCJP)

This certification is for programmers interested in demonstrating proficiency in the fundamentals of the Java programming language using the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) technology.

Sun Certified Developer for the Java 2 Platform (SCJD)

This certification is for Sun Certified Programmers who are already familiar with the basic structure and syntax of the Java programming language, and who have a need to demonstrate advanced proficiency in developing complex, production-level applications using Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) technology. Certification consists of two elements: a programming assignment and an essay exam, and requires Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform (any edition) status.
